Mr. Know It All
Have you ever had that professor that just seems to "beat around the bush" when answering your question? Professors like this are sooooooo frustrating to me! As students, we are their to learn, which means asking questions to make sure we understand the material. If the professor doesn't explain it well enough, we have the right to always ask questions to clarify. Do you agree? I seem to have a professor who thinks he knows it all and is too good at what he does to further the students knowledge. I'm sorry, but a 30 second explanation of an assignment that will take students at least 2 hours to do is not long enough. I understand the fact that we are supposed to do our own research and think for ourselves to find the right solution, but when we don't know the initial format, or the problem, or what we are supposed to be doing in the first place, it is quite hard to complete an assignment. I had this issue the other day when I asked a simple question and it took more than half the class period to give me a 3 second answer. If he would have just answered my question in the first place, we could have moved onto a different topic and avoided confusing the rest of the class. By the time we were done with the class, which by the way was 10 minutes over the time, all of us were more confused than we came into the class for the day and were assigned this assignment. Some professors need to understand the fact that they may be speaking way over our heads with all of the knowledge that they have. In order to be a good professor, they need to be able to break down their knowledge and teach it to the rest of us.

I understand the feeling, specially when taking online classes. I had a proffesor that would just tell us to read chapters and do reports, but when students would ask what he was looking for or how the paper should look, he would laugh and say well you are in college right? you should now by now. I don't think that is the correct way to respond someone when they are asking a question. What happened to having patience with students and providing detail explanations?
